Coin show 3-5-06
I guess I have to keep my mouth shut!!!!!!!!!!!
The coin show in Parsippany had at least twice as many people as usual. Lots of silver and gold. They even set up another room that dealers were just buying in this room. Which usually a couple of tables have a sign that buying gold and silver. Almost everyone had a sign. Amazing. One guy was selling Canadian Dollars for 6. each if you bought a roll. I bought three. I know they don't have the same amount of silver. But usually they were going for spot plus. what a bargain!!!!!! Yea Ha!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Coin show 3-5-06

Re: Coin show 3-5-06
I'm going to my first coin show in a couple of weeks. I'm pretty excited. I take it it's like a gun show but for coins? Everything from some fool wanting 3 bucks over spot for rounds to the one guy only wanting 25 cents over spot?
Anything to look out for in particular? |
Re: Coin show 3-5-06
If you can talk to a few of them if possable and ask questions, or watch and listen...
I have read and been told when you go know what you want and stick with it. Mostly you'll see Numismatics. but there will be lots of bullion. when you tell them/ask them if they have gold or silver make sure you say bullion. A lot will try and push Eagles cause of the mark up, ask if they have any circulated, doubtful, maybe silver. Also depending on how much you are willing to spend, most will make deals for quanity. Today the guy had a sign that said special sale on qunity, make an offer. So I said what do you consider quanity, he said a roll, 20. I said how much he said $6,oo, I said give me three rolls. YE HAW!!!!! Coin shop three days ago for a roll wanted 220.00 a roll I got three for 360. :elefant::getdown::beer: |
Re: Coin show 3-5-06
a roll of what? silver eagles? that would be an awesome price at $6
I will be going to a coin show in 2 weeks. buying something will depend on where the spot price is. when I went last year there was quite a bit of bullion. unfortunately the other side of the convention center had an Alpaca show so the place stunk pretty bad so I did not get to window shop much. |
Re: Coin show 3-5-06
Sorry AgAuGal I was refering back to my first post they are 1960's canadian dollars 80% silver, so they are worth about...mmm...
<table border="1"> <tbody><tr><td> 1935 - 1967</td><td>36</td><td>23.3276</td><td>800</td><td>.6000</td></tr></tbody> </table> Okay broke even if I did the math right, oh well not as great of a bargain as I thought:bawling::Sorry:... But a search on them did reveal that on ebay a few weeks ago a roll of these went for 141.00 so silvers up I sell them on ebay might get 150. which would be a $30 profit:elefant::birthday::getdown::beer: |
Re: Coin show 3-5-06
AJ did you see any pre 1933 US gold coins for sale at the show?

Re: Coin show 3-5-06
yea this show I always see early gold, silver MORGANS like they weren't scarce. I mean the amount they get for Carson City you'd think there were only a few, I see at least 30 of them at this show.
Although the area around parsippany is pretty wealthy and NY is only a half hour or so with no traffic so maybe that's why I always see this stuff were as others say the go to the shows or dealers and they can't find anything. I know when I go see my mom in ME and stop in a few shops that do have stuff they always seem to be pricey and they don't have anything. I saw one guy that made a sign ST Guadins, sorry spelling, and he had a bunch of them. Yes there are also Indians and whatever else, that stuff is a little pricey for me, I will buy/collect walkers, I think they are pretty, hence why silver dollars has the same woman on them, she's hot I'd love to meet that bodacious lady!!! No offence ment to the women here on GIM, If you do take offence blame God for making the female body looking the way it does!!!!!!!! OOOWWWW!!!!!:elefant::birthday::beer: :Sorry: |
Re: Coin show 3-5-06
I had the opposite luck at a coin show over the weekend. All that people were selling was numismatics.
I mean every single damn booth. Most dealers, when asked if they had any silver bullion or large bags of junk dimes, responded like you asked them if they had any turds to sell. All I ended up with was 20 Australian Kookaburra silver 1 oz. coins for 11 bucks each. Not worth my time driving over there. |

There was even one jerk who wouldn't sell for the prices written on the coins- they were 1964 Kennedy halves marked $3.00 and he refused to sell them for that. |

Re: Coin show 3-5-06
I went to a huge show over the weekend. Tons of stuff in PCGS holders as usual but silver bullion and gold bullion seemed to be in short supply. A dealer I know that usually has lots of gold seemed to be getting low on it himself. Most dealers that had any silver wanted $12.50 for Silver Maple Leaf's or Silver Eagle's. I ended up picking up some Silver Maple Leaf's for $12 from one dealer. Not too bad considering that APMEX is higher now.
